Hopefully this is normal procedure and I'm not, like, out of place here or anything, but I figured I'd introduce myself here since I've just started about this place.

Well, my name is Joseph. I'm alright being called by anything, really. I'm pretty nerdy and eccentric, but I think I am a very easy person to get along with. I'm really passionate about language as a whole, and some languages really grab my attention. Irish is currently something of a muse for me.

I do have my eyesight (even if it is pretty bad by most standards), so I take it I'm a sighty by what I've seen around here so far. Heh. At any rate, I hope that I am accepted, and I look forward to meeting anyone and everyone.

Thank you, thank you. :D

TuathaDeDanann? Wow. There's a term one doesn't generally come across. Interesting mythology surrounding them to be sure, not to mention some pretty fantastic fiction. Welcome to the Zone. You'll find people of all sorts here, and the private notes and ignore features are just a click/keystroke away. Based on your interests I'd almost consider you more a geek than a nerd, but then, I'm pretty much a geek myself. Given your interests, what games do you enjoy?

This site seems to have many more people who recognize the name than any other I've visited. :D I think I'll enjoy this site a lot.

I've been called a nerd but never a geek. In fact, I don't think I've ever really heard someone use geek in day to day life in my area... So I guess I may not be aware of the difference. I can enjoy any game, really, so long as the mood strikes me. Normally, I like games that require a good bit of thought and are complex enough to get really absorbed in.

So puzzle, strategy, role-playing, or just like me, and anything with an engaging story?

Post 7 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Friday, 03-Jun-2016 23:06:42

Welcome to the zone.

All of those are good to me, but if I had to select a few favorites, it would probably go to role-playing and strategy games. Engaging stories are wonderful, but I've also liked a lot of things that were really minimalist in nature.

Thanks for the welcome. :D

Post 9 by Barranca Grande (I can't call it a day til I enter the zone BBS) on Saturday, 04-Jun-2016 14:07:18

Hey everyone.

I’ve been on The Zone since 2008, but got active on it again on Thursday, just a couple of days ago.

For those who don’t know me, I go by “Barranca Grande”, but my name is James. I’m 31 years old, and am looking at going back to school to get a degree in counseling.

I enjoy reading, hanging out with friends, doing stuff on the computer, writing, reading and listening to music.

For music, I enjoy Rock, Classical, some Jazz, and Metal, infinite amounts of Metal. The Metal groups I enjoy are groups like Skalmold, Tyr, Dir En Grey, Opeth, Nightwish, Therion, Amorphis, Ensiferum, Epica, Tarot, Burzum, Mayhem, Emperor and Gorgoroth. The only Metal I won’t touch is what they call “National Socialist Metal” and given the two words in that title, I probably don’t need to explain further, LOL.

For reading, I enjoy authors like Stephen King, Michael Palmer, Robin Cook, Jonathan Kellerman, Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Chris Hedges, Noam Chomsky, John Ralston Saul, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Leo Tolstoy, Edgar Allan Poe and George Orwell. So basically, I like older authors as well as some of the contemporary ones.

Well, I think that’s about it. More can be found on my profile page, so if you check that out, enjoy.

James

Nice to see a fellow Nightwish and Epica fan. Don't know too many people who are into them.Nightwish is one of my all-time favorite bands. As for Epica, I like most of their music. I don't like growling in my metal. I feel like it is to metal what rap is to pop music. I can tolerate it if the rest of the music is good, and in Epica's case, their instrumentals and vocals make up for the growling.

Hello anyone. Smile.
Welcome.
Yes, stick around. I'm here, right?
Laughing.

Post 13 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Wednesday, 08-Jun-2016 12:31:56

Wayne always laughs, but it's kind of an insane laugh. That's because he's kind of hohoho hahaha, crazy.

James and Joseph, welcome to the zone. James, if I were you, (here comes a criticism of sorts) I would have posted my own topic instead of usurping Josephs. But, it's been done before, and no harm done.

As I say, welcome. If you need any help navigating this madhouse send me a message and I'll try to help.

Bob

Hello everyone! Like some others I am back after having been off the zone for about 10 years! Still trying to find my nitch in the scheme of things! Basicly, I'm easy going, reserved but friendly and maybe a little bit hard to get to know! I just want to make new friends and dialog with them about common experiences! Technology is not my thing but I've managed to navigate on the computer ! Will probably be asking for some help in that area from time to time. I read a lot in both fiction and non-fiction. Even though I tend to be a little too serious, I really do enjoy laughing! Some may say that I have a strange sense of humorand I probably do! Anyway feel free to send me private messages or quick note me when I'm on the zone! Welcome to the new zoners who introduced themselves earlier. Oh yes, my name is Faye!

So, you're the one who can out-do anyone of us in Hangman. LOL Every time I try for points more than five, your name is often there, guessing the word very fast, and with very few bad letter choices. What's your secret? Just kidding.
Welcome back.
God Bless,
Sarah
